Duration: 1.5–2 hours
Season: May–August (select winter dates available)

 

Explore Edmonton’s river valley and discover the plants that surround you. Learn to identify local species, understand their traditional uses, and connect with the land through hands-on observation. Winter tours focus on tree ID and plant memory even in dormancy.

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, layered clothing, water, and a notebook or phone for notes/photos.

Suitable for beginners.

 


Tracks of the River

Location: Hermitage Park
Duration: 1.5–2 hours
Season: March–April & October–November

 

Follow the hidden trails of Edmonton’s wildlife. Learn to identify animal tracks, read signs, and understand local species’ behavior. Hands-on activities help spot and record tracks along river flats and forest paths.

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water, and a notebook or phone for notes/photos.
