Explore the diverse parks and winding trails of the Edmonton River Valley on a guided walking tour rooted in land-based knowledge and local history offering a deeper connection to Edmonton’s urban wilderness in every season.

Roots and Remedies

 

Roots and Remedies – Capilano Park

A guided plant walk through Edmonton's River Valley exploring traditional plant knowledge, seasonal medicines, and ethical harvesting practices. Learn to identify local plants and deepen your connection to the land in every season.

River Valley Remedies

 Location: Terwillegar Park
Duration: 1.5–2 hours
Season: May–August (select winter dates available)

 

Explore Edmonton’s river valley and discover the plants that surround you. Learn to identify local species, understand their traditional uses, and connect with the land through hands-on observation. Winter tours focus on tree ID and plant memory even in dormancy.

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, layered clothing, water, and a notebook or phone for notes/photos.

Suitable for beginners.

Location: Terwilliger Park
Duration: 1.5–2 hours
Season: March–April & October–November

 

Slow down and learn to read the quiet stories written on the land. In this beginner-friendly experience, you’ll explore animal tracks and sign, footprints, trails, feeding clues, and more.  

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water, and a notebook or phone for notes/photos.

Suitable for all skill levels
