Russ McRae, a proud Métis Guide, is a certified Wilderness Survival and Woods Travel instructor with over 15 years of hands-on experience navigating and thriving in the wilderness. Recognized as the first Indigenous person in Alberta to earn certification through Tracker Certification North America, Russ is dedicated to delivering high-quality, dependable instruction grounded in both traditional knowledge and modern survival techniques.

To stay at the forefront of his field, Russ trains regularly with top survival experts from across Canada and beyond. His commitment to mentorship extends into the community, where he volunteers as a leader with the Alberta Junior Forest Wardens, guiding the Edmonton Windwalkers youth outdoor group.

When he’s not teaching or volunteering, Russ can often be found alongside his wife attending outdoor symposiums, workshops, and cultural gatherings—continuing to deepen his knowledge and passion for the land.
